It's Ramadan, which means that Xining's Hui Quarter, already the liveliest part of town, is even more busy than usual. This is especially true on Friday afternoons, when the Dongguan Mosque holds its weekly Jumu'ah prayers (主麻礼拜). It's a massive event on a normal Friday, and during Ramadan locals estimate that anywhere between 100,000 and 200,000 people attend.
